FAQs/PRICES for private dance lessons

Expand your social life by learning to dance

What dances do you teach?

Club dances: Salsa, Bachata, Mergengue, Kizomba, Cha Cha

Swing: West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Rock and Roll, Jive, East Coast Swing, Blues

American Ballroom and Latin: Waltz, Tango, Social Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha (please note that due to space social versions of these dances are taught)

International Ballroom for beginners: Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha (please note that due to space social versions of these dances are taught).

Do I need a partner?

No. You can learn to dance without a partner. In fact, you will learn more quickly by yourself as we tailor everything to your learning style and dancing without a partner what you need to know

How much do private lessons cost?

For social dancing a 55 minute private lesson is £40 for the first six lessons. Then it's £35 after that.

For wedding first dances I offer a free 45 minute no obligation consultation. Then each individually purchased private dancing without a partner lesson  (55 minutes long) is £50. I also offer wedding packages which make the rate lower (from £35 to £44 depending on how many you buy.)  Go to the WEDDING page for all the details.

If money is the only issue holding you back from learning to dance, and you cannot afford to pay full prices, please get in touch. I offer a sliding scale for people without much disposable income.

I'm a terrible dancer with two left feet. Can I still learn?

Definitely. Without question. I've met many adults who claimed to have two left feet and not one left my lessons without being able to dance at least a few steps. Those who continued often became the most committed dancers. Private lessons are the easiest way to start learning as I tailor everything to your learning style.

Do I need special shoes?

Not in the beginning. Anything that attaches firmly to your foot i.e. not flip flops is okay. Ideally your shoes would not have a rubber sole so you could turn more easily on the floor.

When do you teach? Can I have a different day/time each week?

I teach out of my own private space which means I have much more freedom that most teachers who have to rent halls. I teach most weekday mornings, afternoons and evenings with occasional weekends if a student cannot do other times. Your lesson schedule can change so it's conventient for you every week.

Do you teach group classes?

I offer group classes for small groups of friends who want to learn together. A 55 minute lesson for more than two people is £45.

From time to time I offer group dance classes for adults open to the public. If you are interested please get in touch and I will let you know of any upcoming classes.

Every three or four months I arrange a night out with all my students to go out dancing together as a group. It's a low stress way to experience Bristol's dancing and nightlife scene.

Everyone is welcome, but especially members of the LGBTQ community
